Cut The Flow 3.0: browser-based video editing, now turbocharged

Here’s the full tour.

GPU Acceleration — exports up to 3× faster

This is THE big one. Cut The Flow now automatically detects your graphics card (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Apple Silicon) and offloads rendering to the hardware pipeline.

  • Automatic GPU detection through WebGL 2.0
  • “High-performance” mode enabled by default on capable machines
  • Smart fallback to CPU when no GPU is available
  • New “HARDWARE ACCELERATION” toggle inside the export panel
  • GPU name displayed directly in the UI

Real-world impact: exports run 2 to 3 times faster, your machine’s fan stays quiet, and the preview stays smooth even on complex projects.

Native 4K and 8K support — fluid editing, full-quality export

Importing a 4K or 8K clip no longer chokes the timeline. Cut The Flow generates a lightweight “proxy” version automatically for editing, then uses the original full-quality file at export time.

  • Background generation of 720p / 1080p proxies
  • Three preview quality modes: LOW (fast), AUTO (recommended), FULL (native)
  • Up to 5× faster timeline playback on 4K footage
  • 60 to 80% less GPU load during editing
  • Zero quality loss in the final export

The workflow: import in 4K, edit smoothly, export in 4K. No compromise.

Professional multitrack timeline

The editing engine has been redesigned to feel like desktop tools, without the weight:

  • Unlimited video and audio tracks
  • Direct drag & drop from your media library
  • Pixel-accurate cuts and trims
  • Snap-to-grid for clean alignment
  • Smooth zoom for precision work
  • Copy / paste clips
  • Undo / Redo across 50 states

Advanced audio mixing

Audio is no longer an afterthought. Cut The Flow now ships with real multitrack mixing and continuous playback across cuts — no more awkward gaps between clips.

  • Multiple simultaneous audio tracks
  • Independent volume per clip
  • Automatic audio/video sync
  • Fade in / fade out
  • Continuous playback across transitions

⚡ Overall performance

Under the hood, several major optimizations:

  • WebCodecs API support (Chrome 94+) for hardware decoding
  • Adaptive preview that scales to your machine’s power
  • Optimized memory handling for long projects
  • Background export so you can keep working

PWA mode — install Cut The Flow like a real app

Cut The Flow is now a Progressive Web App. Install it in one click from your browser:

  • Icon on your desktop or home screen
  • Full-screen launch, no address bar
  • Near-instant loading thanks to local caching
  • Works offline for the interface layer

Projects and export

  • Save / load projects as JSON
  • WebM export (VP8 / VP9 codecs)
  • MP4 export (rolling out)
  • Custom resolutions: 480p, 720p, 1080p, 4K, 8K
  • Adjustable framerate: 24, 30, 60 fps
  • Auto-save reminders

Built for speed

  • Full keyboard shortcuts (playback, cut, navigation, undo…)
  • Dark theme optimized for long sessions
  • IBM Plex Mono font for maximum readability
  • Responsive interface — works on tablet too

100% local, 100% private

Not a single video leaves your machine. No upload, no server, no account. Cut The Flow runs entirely in your browser. Your footage stays with you, period.

What’s next?

The roadmap is loaded:

  • Real-time effects and filters
  • Clip-to-clip transitions
  • Text and title layers
  • Color correction
  • Batch export
  • Collaborative editing
